If I had to start my web development career again tomorrow, I wouldn’t begin by trying to learn everything.
I’d do five things:
1. I’d build more real projects.
Tutorials teach you syntax.
Projects teach you problem-solving.
2. I’d learn business, not just technology.
Clients don’t really buy websites.
They buy outcomes.
3. I’d document my work from day one.
Every project can become proof of what you know.
4. I’d specialize without becoming narrow.
I’d become known for something while keeping enough technical range to solve complex problems.
5. I’d start building relationships earlier.
Skills can get you through the door.
Relationships can keep opening doors.
Looking back, I think that’s one of the biggest lessons:
You don’t build a career by collecting skills.
You build it by learning how to turn those skills into value.
