If you’re planning a website redesign before Black Friday, please don’t.
And yes, I say that as someone who designs websites for a living.
Every year it’s the same story.
Three weeks before their busiest season, a business decides the website needs a fresh look.
New design. New layout. New pages. New everything.
It launches a few days before the rush.
And then the surprises start:
❌ A form that was never tested on every phone
❌ A checkout path returning customers can’t find anymore
❌ Old page links from Google and ads that now lead nowhere
❌ Bugs nobody had time to catch
All discovered at the exact moment traffic is highest and you’re too busy to fix anything.
A redesign isn’t a quick fix. It’s a project. And projects need time to test.
21 days isn’t that.
Here’s what I’d do instead. Fix three things on the website you already have:
✔ Speed. Find your biggest images and shrink them.
✔ Your main button. Make it say exactly what happens next.
✔ The path. On your phone, click from your ad or email to your offer to your checkout or enquiry form. Fix anything that slows you down.
Then redesign in January, when it’s quiet and you can do it properly.
A good website at the right time beats a perfect website at the wrong time.
Agree or disagree? Would you launch a brand-new website right before your busiest season? 👇
